Country music star Derek Ryan releases his new single

FERMANAGH Country music star Derek Ryan said he was ‘delighted’ to be able to collaborate with one of Ireland’s leading Céilí bands on the release of his new single.

The Carlow man, who has set up in Enniskillen, recently teamed up with the legendary and hugely popular ‘Kilfenora Céilí Band’ on his new song, ‘In Between The Jigs & The Reels’.

“I’m delighted to announce I will be releasing a new single, an exciting collaboration with the legendary ‘Kilfenora Céilí Band’,” said Ryan, before the launch of his latest track.

The ‘Kilfenora Céilí Band’ was founded in 1909 in Clare and it continues to be a leading force in local traditional music circles, headline concerts and gigs at top venues across the island.

“[It was] lovely being involved in this song with the wonderful Derek Ryan. Great fun recording and meeting Derek. Best of luck with it,” said a spokesperson for the ‘Kilfenora Céilí Band’.

Fresh off the back of performing to over 20,000 fans at Ormeau Park in Belfast, Ryan recently teamed up with one of the North’s leading Country music stars on the release of her new album.

The Enniskillen resident partnered up with the much-loved Susan McCann, pictured below, and helped co-write ‘After All This Time’ as part of her new celebration album.

“To make the song [‘After All This Time’] different, I didn’t go down the whole career route,” Ryan told the ‘Sunday World’.

“I met Denis, her husband, and I said, ‘do you know what, I’ll write a nice love song looking back on the ups and downs of her life’, especially with everything Susan (McCann) has been through lately.

“There’s always the concern that people mightn’t like the song you’ve written for them, but the first time Susan heard it, she loved it. So thankfully I got it right first time.”
