Coleraine visit Ferney Park tomorrow (Saturday) in what should be another tough test for the Mallard men.
Ballinamallard have had the better of the exchanges in recent meetings, but Coleraine, sitting on 14 points, two behind Ballinamallard, will be another tough nut to crack for Anderson’s men.
Anderson says, “They are a very good side, but probably aren’t getting the results you would expect. They are a good footballing side and on their day can cause serious problems. It should be another tight game on Saturday.”
On Friday night, despite the changes, Ballinamallard played their usual 4-4-2 formation.
“We kept the two strikers up and played the four in the middle of the park. It’s working for us at the moment.”
Anderson knows that his side has picked up some good results against Coleraine in recent times, but he says they are all now in the past.
“They are all yesterday’s results. We have to think of the present. I’m sure they will be looking to get the money off their backs, but we will be looking to build on our performance against Glenavon,” said Anderson.
“They are capable of beating any side on their day. They have good players and can play good football, but we have to look after ourselves and apply ourselves properly to get a good result on Saturday.”
Jason McCartney should be back from an ankle injury while Mark McConkey should be over the flu. Mark Stafford took a knock on Friday night but should be given the all clear at training on Thursday.
“We should be picking from a full squad which is a great headache to have,” he said.
James McKenna and Richard Leckey are still returning from long term injuries.
Anderson says his boys just have to go out and play at home.
“We’ve picked up good points already this season and need to do the same again this Saturday. We’ll be going for a win, but there is very little between the two sides. It has the makings of a good game, but three points are important for us if we are to move on up the table,” said Anderson.
