Benefit reform set to cause more hardship
LESS than seven per cent of Fermanagh benefit claimants accused of cheating the welfare system have been convicted of benefit fraud, it can be revealed.
People with serious disabilities and health conditions, including cancer patients, are being forced back into work and stripped of benefits, an Enniskillen charity worker has claimed.
FERMANAGH could be set to have a staggering £22 million a year stripped from its economy if the proposed welfare reforms are implemented with over 19,500 households being affected here alone.
The Fermanagh Citizens Advice Bureau manager has laid bare the devastating impacts of the welfare reforms saying that local unemployment will rise pushing their advice service to the limits.
