THE big-hearted pupils of St Comhghall’s College in Lisnaskea have given residents of a local care home a very welcome early Christmas present.
The Year 14 students got into ‘Bake Off’ mode recently for an extra special fundraising drive. They organised a cake sale in the school, which was supported by staff, students and locals and their sweet-toothed gesture raised a very respectable £400.
Their generous donation has allowed staff at the nearby Barnlee Residential Care Home in Lisnaskea to purchase a brand new flatscreen television for their 23 residents.
Manager Geraldine O’Neill said all the residents in Barnlee were ‘overjoyed’ at the new arrival.
“They are all delighted with the new addition to the facility and it’s just in time for Christmas. This is a great example of people coming together as a community to make things happen. It was a lovely idea and the residents are very grateful that the students have considered them in their recent fundraising efforts.
“We all very much enjoyed their visit here when they presented this lovely TV to us. It will provide our residents with many hours of entertainment in the home. They are already enjoying watching all their favourite programmes on it,” she said.
