The position was then advertised, with interviews for the principal designate, according to the Interim Board of Governors (IBOG), due to take place yesterday, Tuesday, February 23.

It is believed that both Portora principal Neil Morton and Collegiate prinicpal Elizabeth Armstrong again applied for the position.

In further developments to come from the latest Interim Board of Governors meeting on February 10, 2016 a sample for the new school and sports uniform should be available in the very near future, with a time frame of ‘within two weeks’ stated on a briefing given to staff at both schools.

In regards to the new school crest the board has confirmed they are waiting for a response from the Cabinet Office after seeking approval to use the royal crown on the school’s crest.

Other key developments from the February 10 meeting confirm that work is ongoing on the new management structure and curriculum and staffing audits. Staff, teaching and non-teaching  and their union representatives will have the opportunity to consult on these issues.

In the second newsletter released by the IBOG in December 2015 it was confirmed the new school will admit 130 pupils into year 8 and will have an enrollment of 990 pupils for 2016/2017. The long-term enrollment for the school has been set at 900 pupils. At that time it was stated “no decision” had been taken on the location of a new build for the school, with “various options” being considered. It is not known when approval for the new build will be granted.

Earlier this month a legal challenge to proposals to close Portora Royal School and Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School and form the new Enniskillen Royal Grammar School failed at the High Court. The new school will come into effect on September 1, 2016, with the year eight intake, both boys and girls, being taught on the Collegiate site.

A proposed design for the new uniform for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School is radically different to both the present Portora and Collegiate uniforms.

The Herald understands  that from ta recent mock up drawn up the blazer is dark blue in colour with ribbon stripes, one red and one gold down the lapelle along with a new badge for the school.
