Party in style through the Christmas holiday style

Sharon Irvine reckons there’s nothing wrong with going OTT over Christmas

We Fermanagh folk love a good Christmas party particularly a proper Christmas party night in one of the many hotels across the county.

Throughout December our local hotels will see hundreds of people pass through their doors, hundreds of plates of turkey and ham being served, countless crackers being pulled (not just on the dance floor) and many renditions of ‘Fairy tale in New York’ being sung.

The office Christmas party is an annual ritual that we ladies all love and beauticians and hairdressers no doubt breathe a sigh of relief after the last spritz of hairspray and last touch up of lipgloss.

I often wonder how hairdressers’ lungs cope with the intoxicating amount of hairspray they go through on a daily basis at this time of year.

No matter what your sense of style or where you are going we all like to make an effort to get glammed up and for many of us the office Christmas party is one of the few occasions where we get to be ourselves around our work colleagues (perhaps not a good thing), let our hair down and have a good boogie to a cheesy band.

Many of us fall into a category of style whether that be someone who is a bit of a tom boy and prefers a casual look, someone who keeps it casual at work but likes to get really glammed up on a night out, someone who always looks effortless or a wannabe vintage style icon who loves the classic vintage look. Whatever category you fall into you are sure to find your perfect party outfit locally. If you’re not sure what look you want to go for here are some suggestions from this seasons hot trends.

Casual but classy

If you’re not one for getting really glammed up and feel more comfortable in something a little more low key you can still find a great party dress that suits your understated style and you can always add to it with some statement jewellery and a fab pair of heels.

Glamazon

I am always really impressed when people who are normally quite casual in their every day life get really glammed up for nights out. If you are one of these people you will find lots of glamorous party dresses on offer on our local high street. Don’t worry about going too OTT, that’s what Christmas is all about.

Vintage passion

Maybe you are a fan of the old looks, old school glamour that never goes out of style. Vintage looks are constantly repeated over and over but given a more up to date twist. There are so many vintage styles available now however you can also find lots of great original vintage dresses as well.

Effortless chic

Some people are lucky enough to look great in everything so they can really get away with wearing anything because by adding the right accessories they can make even the plainest outfit look great.
