LOCAL railway enthusiasts from the Railway Preservation Society Ireland (RPSI), Modern Railway Society Ireland (MRSI) and Ulster Model Railways Club enjoyed an outing by bus and train to Enniskillen, Sligo and Dublin on Wednesday October 29 (a round trip of about 400 miles).

At their first stop they called at ‘Headhunters’ in Enniskillen, a barber shop and railway museum featured in a BBC TV programme on Monday October 27 entitled ‘Walk the Line’ presented by BBC weatherman Barra Best.

The group from Lisburn, Bangor and Belfast etc were welcomed by hairdressers/owners Nigel and Gordon Johnston who gave them a guided tour of what is described as ‘The barber shop with a rail difference’.

During the tour, Lisburn retired bank manager David Thompson, a member of the Railway Preservation Society Ireland, presented Nigel and Gordon with some old train tickets to add to the excellent collection of railway memorabilia on display at ‘Headhunters’.
