This week, (Wednesday, August 20) Ryan Smith, caught up with Paul Kelly who returns to the Westville next week…

PETTIGO COUNTRY SINGER Paul Kelly returns to the Westville Hotel in Enniskillen next week.

The musician has been on the road with his band since October of last year – and makes a return to the Westville after a successful show there back in March.

Paul has been touring across the country with his backing band.

The band includes Denise Boyle on fiddle; Pauric O’ Sullivan, bass; Micky Madine on drums; Finn Morris on keyboard; Jonathan Milligan on guitar; and Karl Kirkpatrick on rhythm guitar.

Dave Burke works as sound engineer, and Andy Cox as band manager.

Previously, explaining his live show, Paul said:

“A lot of the music industry at the minute is performance yes, but also knowing your punters, talking to your punters, and if you’re back at the place a second time, remembering names and people.

“90% of people tell you ‘that was great’ – if they didn’t like it, they would probably say nothing – though I did have one man who came and said to me that our tempo wasn’t right. But you will get people, no matter what you do, who don’t enjoy it – you just do your best.”

Paul’s latest single is ‘Summertime’ and was released back in June.

“It’s very popular at the gigs,” Paul said,

“We’ve been touring all over Ireland and also did a tour of North Scotland in June and we have a week l booked in England for November.”

Paul added that the band are getting ‘great support from the public and great crowds attending the gigs’.

“We’re playing in the Westville on Thursday August 28. We’re calling it the last hooley before everyone goes back to school and college.

“We’re looking forward to it and it should be a good night.”
