GET ready to kick up your heels as Mount Lourdes Grammar School presents “Footloose.’’

Rehearsals are currently in full swing for this high-energy musical which will lift your spirits and make you want to dance.

With its rockin’ rhythms augmented with new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates young people and the wisdom of guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

The musical, inspired by the iconic 1984 movie starring Kevin Bacon, tells the story of a lively city boy, Ren, (David Donnelly) who moves to a small town where dancing has been banned by an narrow-minded pastor.

Ren tries to gain support from his friends to overturn the ban, and while doing so, he catches the attention of the preacher’s daughter, Ariel, (Emma Ryan).

The score features such hits as “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and the hit title song by Kenny Loggins that will bring audiences to their feet – “Footloose.”

The show will run from Monday 14th – Friday 18th October at 8pm.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday October 4 at the School’s main office priced at £10.

Dancing is not a crime but to miss Footloose would be.
