Festival season is well and truly underway this weekend

This coming weekend the festival season continues at a roaring pace as Belnaleck and Maguiresbridge  throw their hats into the ring.

Belnaleck Art MacMurrough’s host their Festival Weekend and over the three days, there is a dazzling mix of activities with something on offer for all the family.

On Friday July 26, festivities kick off with a 10km charity leisure cycle ; ‘The Arney Loop’ is in aid of St. Mary’s Primary School, Mullymesker, and Tiny Tots Cross Community playgroup.

Pick up your sponsor sheet from St Mary’s, Tiny tots or any committee member. Registration from 6.45pm, with the cycle to begin at 7.00pm.

Following the cycle there will be a Guest tea, which takes place at 9pm.

If you would like to host a table contact any committee member.

The highlight of the festival weekend takes place on Saturday July 27 when the club become the first in the county to host a version of ITV TV show  ‘The Cube’.

How many times have you screamed from the sofa “I could do that”?

Well, now is your chance to shine. There will be a range of tasks to test yourself against, with a massive prize of £2,500 for the winner. If you would like to participate, call 07786923145.

Admission tickets (£10) are available from club officials and local outlets. Doors open at 8pm.

On Sunday July 28, there is something on offer for all age groups.

Inflatable games, demolition zones, novelty attractions and face painting are just some of the activities in the Family Fun Day.

The day includes a massive Vintage Rally, with many classic gems on display. To round off the weekend, there will be a star packed Country Music Jamboree in the marquee.

In Maguiresbridge the Village and Rural Development Association are busy preparing for their annual cross-community festival, also this weekend.

It starts on Friday July 26 with a tots disco from 6pm to 8pm. On Saturday events begin at 1.30pm and include a family fun day, with family entertainment all through the day.

From bouncy castles to a magician young and old alike enjoy the spectacle of the annual event. The festival ends on the Saturday night with Paul Kelly and the Mucky Ducks performing for the crowds at the closing dance.

Both Maguiresbridge and Belnaleck are sure to be buzzing this weekend so why not pop along and see what these two vibrant villages have to offer.
