Country musician John Garrity spoke to Ryan Smith this week, as he released a new video to go along with his version of ‘A place to fall apart’ that he recorded for his latest album…

IF YOU HAPPENED to be present in Jazzey’s of Enniskillen recently, you may have come across one John Garrity with a camera crew on his back.

He was recording the first of 12 tracks for a DVD that he aims to release in November of this year.

For the duet, John enlisted the help of Leanne Benn, for the recording which was released on his album, ‘Second Time Coming’ earlier this year.

“We were in the studio doing the new album, and I called Leanne Benn and asked if we could do a duet. She said it was no problem. I’d been listening to some Merle Haggard and Connie Smith stuff.

“A song I came across  called ‘Place to fall apart’ that I liked,” he explained.

“After we had launched the CD it had proved to be a very popular song on the album, and I thought, maybe we’ll do a video for it and get it on television.”

The song was then recorded in Jazzey’s, Enniskillen.

“It came out great,” said John.

“We put a lot of effort and thought into where we were going to do it. It’s being pushed on YouTube. It’s on the album, all the DJs have it already. We’ve had an unbelievable response to it.”

The video will appear on Sky channel 191 on Monday June 17 at 1pm, and is part of a DVD that John hopes to have out prior to Christmas.

“We’re back in the studio doing more tracks for the DVD – I’m listening to a lot of music at the minute as well.
“It’s going to be a good DVD,” he mused.

“We’re putting two new singles on it, which we’re going to release when the DVD itself is released.

“It’ll be done on location around Fermanagh – and probably some further afield, like Galway.

“With putting two brand new songs on it, it’s going to push me towards getting a new album too.”
