Actors take on ‘Human Bird’ roles

belfast play

TWO local actors have taken part in a play in a Belfast theatre this week.

Jonathan Moorhead and Ryan Patterson, who both completed their A-Levels this year, performed two shows in the MAC theatre yesterday (Tuesday).

The play was entitled ‘The Great Human Bird Competition’, and was ran by the Integrated Schools Theatre company, ‘Nitty Gritty’.

Ryan Patterson, from Enniskillen played the part of ‘Mr Poop’ in the played aimed towards children.

“My first acting experience was in the nativity and ever since then I appeared in a few small things,” he told the Fermanagh Herald.

“I got involved in the play when Johnny told me that a group in Belfast was auditioning for integrated theatre work so I jumped at the chance because I believe so strongly in integrated education.”

The ‘Johnny’, that Ryan referred to is Jonathan Moorhead – who is in his third year with the company.

“It’s fantastic to be given the lead role of ‘Jackie’,” he said.

“I was very excited to be working with Nitty Gritty again and to bring this show to the MAC as we have been working on it for four months and I think it could be our strongest performance yet.”
