Foodbank in appeal to help those in need

ENNISKILLEN Foodbank is appealing for donations to give families in need a helping hand this Christmas.
Each year, the Foodbank do a hamper giveaway to provide families with food and items that they need over the Christmas period.
Last year, demand was extremely high with 346 hampers being handed out, which totalled to five tonnes of groceries.
High demand is anticipated this year again and the Foodbank expects to distribute in excess of 400 hampers. To do this, the Foodbank is looking for donations to fill the hampers.
The packing will begin for two weeks beginning on December 2nd until December 6th and again on December 9th to the 13th in the hope that all hampers will have been collected/distributed by December 20th.
John Shades, manager at the Food Bank said “In addition to the food, boxes of biscuits and Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street etc. do go down really well at this time of the year.
“Everyone deserves a wee treat at Christmas.”
The Foodbank is not just busy at Christmas. Mr Shades explained that in 2018 over 2,400 people received food parcels from the local Food Bank which equates to approximately 1 in 5 people in the town.
Those in need of support can find the ‘Enniskillen Foodbank’ on Facebook, get in touch with various agencies in town, or alternatively drop into The Lakes Vineyard Church, Cross Street, Enniskillen.
