Enniskillen college now offers full degree courses

WITH its striking new campus taking shape in Enniskillen, South West College (SWC) has introduced three brand new degrees providing local students with the chance to expand their education in Fermanagh.
On Monday the college announced a significant new partnership with The Open University (OU), launching three new degree and top-up degree courses.
These new degree courses are approved as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Sport and Exercise, a BSc in Engineering, and a BSc in Construction Engineering and Management.
The Construction, Engineering and Manufacturing degree is being offered in Enniskillen along with a new Foundation Degree in Sport and Exercise, also through OU, leading on then to the BSc Hons in Sport and Exercise. The courses will give students the opportunity to further their education without having to move to Belfast or further afield.
Tiernan McNamee, pictured right, has studied Sport from Level two onwards at SWC, and is continuing his education through enrolling on the Sport and Exercise course. Tiernan said, “I still work, play football and have my normal home routine that I’ve had for a couple of years. I’m comfortable with that and at the College, where I have the support of the tutors I know, in an environment I’m familiar with. The fact that I can continue my education here, but now come away with a higher qualification at honours degree level, is fantastic.”
Michael McAlister Chief Executive of SWC said, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The OU to deliver these innovative top-up degree and degree programmes that are unique to SWC. They provide direct articulation routes for our Foundation Degree students in key areas of economic growth, allowing students to study from undergraduate degree level locally, which is proving to be an increasingly popular choice in the region.”
