Rural Post Office service is restored

AFTER a three month delay,  the Monea Post Office has finally re-opened.
The rural Post Office at the Reade Hall, Monea closed temporarily in March 2018 following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
The Post Office was expected to open in April, but there was a few technical issues at the new location but after a long wait, the service has officially re-opened.
On Monday morning, a large crowd turned out for the reopening of the Post Office, and a coffee morning in memory of Howard Cathcart, and in aid of the Air Ambulance.
The Post Office has been re-opened by Rooney’s Eurospar, and the new hosted outreach Post Office service will be open on Mondays from 10am to noon, and on Thursdays from noon to 1pm.
The branch will offer a wide range of Post Office products and services. Customers will be able to take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.
Local Councillor Alex Baird has welcomed the reopening of the Post Office.
“The Post Office closed over a year ago, and a lot of effort has been put in to get it open again. I would encourage anyone who previously used the service to return, and any new customers to avail of it. We have to make sure it is viable and maintained. I wish Rooney’s all the best in running the service, and thank the Post Office for re-instating it.”
