Ireland AM presenter ready for fashionable racegoers

WELL-known fashion presenter Marietta Doran is returning this year to judge the Best Dressed Ladies Day Competition at Sligo Races on Wednesday, August 7.

Day one of the two day summer racing festival is an afternoon meeting with a start time of 2.05pm. Gates open at noon. The Eight Card Flat Fixture features the Connaught Oaks Fillies Handicap valued at €30,000 and sponsored by the European Breeders Fund. The overall prize money on the day is in excess if €134,000.

Day two of the Festival is Diageo day and will include an exciting National Hunt Seven Card Fixture starting at 5.35pm. The feature race is The Rockshore Cider Handicap Hurdle of €30,000. Racing will start at 5.30pm. Gates open at 3pm.

The most Stylish Lady Competition is valued at €3,500.With the first prize winner walking away with a cash prize and a treasure trove of other valuable gifts. The nine runners- up will receive a beautiful silver pendant by Newbridge Silverware.

Not to be outdone there is also a prize for the most Stylish Man.

No registration is necessary – just simply look out for the judge and spotters on the day. The finalists will be announced after the fifth race.

Guest judge, Marietta Doran commented, “I am delighted to be returning to Sligo Races to judge the Best Dressed Lady’s Competition on Ladies Day. We had such a fantastic evening last year. The fashion was incredible and it made my decision as a judge very difficult. I’m looking forward to seeing the style in Sligo this year and how the outfits are put together. Sligo racecourse is one of the nicest race courses in the country and makes the ideal backdrop for all the style and fashion that will be showcased on the day.”

Raceday tickets can be purchased by logging on to www.countysligoraces.com or at the turnstiles. Adult admission is €15, senior citizen and students €10. There is also a group rate of €10 for numbers of ten and over.
