Vandals target Forum play park – again

MINDLESS vandals forced the closure of a busy Enniskillen play park last week, and not for the first time.
The Lakeland Forum was forced to close its popular playground facilities after it was discovered red paint had been thrown on the adventure area and slide.
With the schools shut for summer, and visitors flocking to the park from across the county and beyond, many parents were angry about the forced closure of the park on a busy afternoon.
Staff from the Forum quickly cleaned up the mess.
Having been closed after the paint was discovered at around 1.30pm, the park was reopened at 3pm the same afternoon.
A spokesman for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council confirmed to the Herald this was not an isolated incident and “there have been cases of paint being used on the play area before.”
With many parents branding the vandals “a disgrace”, it is understood some children had played on the equipment before the wet paint was discovered. One mother said her child’s clothes had been ruined.
“Why would anyone do this to a children’s playground,” another woman asked.
Police have yet to identify those involved in the vandalism. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Enniskillen Police Station.
