Police plea after cyclist found unconscious

Cornagrade Road

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man was found unconscious with a serious head injury in Enniskillen.
On Saturday September 15th, the man was cycling along the Cornagrade Road, close to the Baptist Church in the direction of Cherrymount Road Roundabout, at around 2am.
He was found unconscious with a serious head injury a short time later.
He was taken to hospital and was treated for the injuries he sustained and he was still in hospital on Monday afternoon. It is not yet known how the man received his injuries.
Local Councillor Paul Blake has advised anyone with information to come forward.
“It is frightening for something like this to happen when someone is possibly on their home from a night out or coming from their work. We consider Enniskillen a very safe town, and we should be doing all we can to assist police with their enquiries.
“This is a very busy road – especially on a Saturday night there is a lot of traffic particularly taxis, and activity going on so someone may have seen something.”
Police are appealing for witnesses and a spokesman said, “We are working to establish how he came to be in this position.
We are asking anyone who was in the area between 1.45am and 2.15am and who witnessed what happened, or anyone who captured mobile phone or dashcam footage, to please get in touch with us by calling 101, quoting reference number CCS 141 15/09/18.”
