No finger lickin’ KFC shortage as Domino’s moves in

KFC in Enniskillen

Fermanagh’s fast food fanatics have two tempting reasons to celebrate this week as supply shortages haven’t affected KFC in Enniskillen which will also soon be home to Domino’s Pizza.
Despite having to close some UK restaurants due to a chicken shortage, no feathers were ruffled across Fermanagh as the restaurant on Enniskillen’s Wellington Road remained unaffected by the crisis.
Restaurants across Ireland, north and south, were still able to dish out buckets, burgers and wraps to customers after the fast food giant announced that due to its new contract with DHL, there had been some “teething problems”. This meant hundreds of restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales faced closure while others were operating limited menus due to delivery-related supply shortages.
In a tongue-in-cheek statement, KFC admitted that the chicken had crossed the road, just not to their restaurants but the Colonel was working on it!
“We’ve brought a new delivery partner on board, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems – getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex! We won’t compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours.”
KFC also commended the work of staff during this time: “Shout out to our restaurant teams who are working flat out to get us back up and running again.”
Meanwhile pizza giant Domino’s has confirmed that will open its new store in Enniskillen in May. The opening should fill the gap in the market left by Pizza Hut which closed its doors on Belmore Street last month with the loss of five jobs. Domino’s are currently recruiting shift managers and runners to join the new local team.
A company spokesman confirmed that more details on the new Dublin Road outlet would be released “in the next few weeks”.
