WHEN it begins to get frightfully chilly and wet outside, and you hear the cold winds lashing at your doors, there’s really nothing better than cosying up at home with a home-made hot milky drink and a good TV show.

Here are our top picks of winter drinks for you to enjoy this Christmas, alongside an easy step-by-step guide of how to make them. Enjoy!

What you’ll need:

• Three spoonfuls of strong coffee/ two shots of espresso
• One tbsp of black treacle (molasses)
• One tbsp of maple syrup
• Half a teaspoon of ground ginger
• Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
• Half a teaspoon of vanilla
• One quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg
• One three quarter cup of milk
• Whipped cream

How to make your latte:

1. In a small bowl, add the coffee, black treacle, maple syrup, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla.
2. Whisk the ingredients together until a smooth consistency is reached.
3. Pour the mixture evenly between your two coffee mugs.
4. Heat the milk until it begins to gently boil in a saucepan. Alternatively, heat the milk in a microwave for three minutes, stirring every minute.
5. Pour the milk evenly between your two coffee mugs.
6. Add your whipped cream to the top in a swirling pattern and enjoy.

WONDERFUL WHITE HOT CHOCCY (Serves two)

What you’ll need:

• Two cups of milk
• One teaspoon of vanilla extract
• Eight ounces (1 3/4 cups) of white chocolate chips/ Eight ounces of finely-chopped white chocolate
• Whipped cream
• Marshmallows

How to make your hot chocolate:

1. In a medium-sized saucepan, gently heat the milk until it begins to become warm, but not hot.
2. Stir in the vanilla, and white chocolate.
3. Keep stirring until the mixtures begins to simmer, but be careful not to boil it.
4. Divide the milk evenly between two glasses.
5. Add your whipped cream, and for the final finishing touch, litter marshmallows along the top.

AMAZING APPLE PIE SPICE LATTE (Serves two)

What you’ll need:

• One cup of whole milk
• One cup of apple cider
• Two tbsp of sugar
• Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
• Half a teaspoon of apple pie spice
• Whipped cream

How to make your spiced latte:

1. In a medium-sized saucepan, gently heat the milk until it begins to become warm, but not hot.
2. Stir in the apple cider, sugar, vanilla extract and apple pie spice.
3. Keep stirring until the mixtures begins to simmer, but be careful not to boil it.
4. Decorate the drink with whipped cream, and an additional sprinkle of apple pie spice.
