A MASSIVE site of land in a residential area of Enniskillen has just gone on the market with a knockdown price tag of just under half a million pounds.

The 17.6 acre site at Cornagrade Road is located between Enniskillen Baptist Church and Reilly’s of Enniskillen and includes almost nine acres of development land.

Fronting onto Cornagrade Road and adjoining existing mixed businesses, the remaining area of low lying wetland is adjacent to the northern and eastern shores of the Back Lough with a backdrop of drumlins, mature hedgerows and trees.

The site previously had planning approval for a residential scheme of 149 units and a crèche to include one detached, three townhouses, 46 semis and 99 apartments, which has since expired.

Known as Donnelly’s Field, the site was previously mooted by the former Fermanagh District Council as a potential recreation site, either as a public park or playing fields.

Placed on the market by Belfast-based commercial property consultants O’Connor Kennedy Turtle last week, the company confirmed that it has already attracted a number of initial offers from interested parties.

A spokesman for the company told the Herald that the site represented a good investment opportunity.

“There is mixed use zoning area at the front and development land to the rear for possible residential or industrial sites. There is huge potential but obviously it will be up to any developers to decide what they intend to do with it.

“We have priced the site in line with what sites in other provincial towns are making and we would be hopeful of achieving that. In towns like Enniskillen nobody was building anything during the recession but sites are starting to come on the market again, selling well and developers are building.”
