NEXT weekend, 24-25 September, Enniskillen Castle will come alive for Festival Lough Erne! This will be the second year for the festival that celebrates our wonderful local food amidst the beauty of the Fermanagh Waterways.

Festival Lough Erne is a wonderful opportunity for both locals and visitors to explore the newly refurbished Enniskillen Castle amidst an array of activities happening throughout the two days.
Guest chefs Noel McMeel (Lough Erne Resort), Stephen McFarland (Pastry Chef ), Joe Kelly (Belle Isle School of Cookery), Gavin Cassidy (Westville Hotel), Dale Abbott (The TapHouse) and others will perform live cookery demonstrations, offering cookery tips and recipes.

There will be a variety of local restaurants on site where visitors can indulge in some delicious local food. Full bar facilities will also be available, provided by the Devenish Bar, Enniskillen. A full programme of musical entertainment showcasing local musicians will be running throughout the Festival.

There will be a wide variety of local food producers in the Festival’s Food Hall both sampling and selling their delicious delights! Some names include: Fivemiletown Cheese, Hughes Craft Distillery, Kennedy Bacon, Richards Bakery and Erin Grove Preserves. An array of local crafts will also be on offer including Camlake Canvas and Natural Beauty Pot.

Within the grounds of the Castle other activities will include face-painting, balloon modelling, exhibitions and activities by Lough Erne Heritage Group, Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark and National Trust Fermanagh. The compere for the weekend will be local radio/TV personality Bryan Gallagher.

Try out some water activities available along the River Erne – these will include canoeing and rowing “come try it” sessions as well as cot trips, on this ancient form of transport along the Lake. Water activities are free of charge for festival goers. These activities are part-funded by Waterways Ireland and the Get Wet EU Programme.

Don’t miss this fantastic two day event that is sure to be fun for all the family! For more information or to purchase tickets in advance see www.festivallougherne.com. Check out updates on Facebook & Twitter #FestErne.
