Welcoming our guest speaker, Lisa McHugh, at Prize Night in October 2015.

THE Principal, Staff and pupils of Devenish College extend a very warm invitation to Primary 7 pupils to attend our Open Evening on Wednesday 27th January 2016, beginning at 7.15pm.

This will be an excellent opportunity to meet our new Principal, Mr Simon Mowbray, to observe the excellent work of our pupils and staff and to view the extensive range of facilities and opportunities the College has to offer.

Principal, Simon Mowbray stated “this is a very exciting time for Devenish College as we aim to prosper under new leadership and expand into our new 800 pupil school which is currently under construction and development on the Tempo Road”.

“We are at advanced planning stages with our architects, with completion of the new build scheduled for November 2018.“It is my aim that Devenish College will continue to grow into an excellent post primary school providing a first class education for the young people of Fermanagh.”

In Devenish College we aim to provide a learning environment that has students as the focal point, where they can mature and develop into confident, successful and responsible young adults ready to play a positive role in a 21st century society.

This is achieved through the provision of a broad and varied curriculum that caters for pupils of all abilities, a caring and inclusive system of pastoral care and support and quality advice and guidance through our careers provision. Learning support for pupils with additional needs is a particular
strength of the College. All of our pupils are encouraged to develop a strong work ethic and to aim for the highest possible achievements in their learning.

Devenish College has excellent academic outcomes with at least 75% of our pupils achieving A*-C grades at GCSE level. 53% of our pupils last year achieved 5 GCSE grades or more at A*-C including English and Maths. This is 8% above the NI Average for non-selective schools.

At A Level results are even more impressive. Over the last two years, 59% of our A Level students achieved 3 A Levels at A*-C – an incredible 14% above the NI Average for non-selective schools. It is our aim to improve these results even further in the years to come.

At Devenish College we appreciate that not all learning takes place in the classroom. To develop relations and achievement further we offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities from football, rugby, hockey and athletics to music, drama, scripture union and Duke of Edinburgh, to name but a few.

Mr Mowbray concluded by saying “Details of our Open Night are shown in the advertisement below this article and we really look forward to meeting you.” If however this date does not suit, please contact Mr Mowbray to arrange an alternative time or date.”
