The first Erne Anglers memorial match took place on the Ballyconnell Canal and Woodford river.

Some 19 anglers competed in the event with all entrants taking home a prize rather than just the winners winning pools.

Prizes were kindly donated by Fishing Tackle and Bait Enniskillen, Tubertini UK, Cloughbally Mill Wholesale and MJ Flood.

Sport was not good on the river sections, but plenty of small fish were caught in the canal, with the weather being much better than in recent days.
In first place and first to win the Dave Yates Memorial Shield was Ireland International feeder angler Tony Kersley of Ballycassidy with 1.360kgs on the harbour peg 2.

Runner-up was Bob Hulme from Dublin who won the section on the canal. In third place was junior angler Stefan Patterson of Derrylin who had a very good week. After just been selected to represent Ireland at U18 level in 2015 he won the Woodford River section in Ballyconnell town.

The club secretary Jack Tisdall thanked all the sponsors of the event in particular Francis McGoldrick, owner of the Angler’s Rest in Ballyconnell who provided free food for all the anglers taking part.
