Declan wins last 18 hole singles at Fintona

Declan O’Hagan won the Peter Mullan and Cyril Rea sponsored competition which was effectively the last mens single competition of the year at Fintona Golf Club.

It was very tight scoring as the results below show but he held out to win. The full results are shown here:-

1st Decan O’Hagan 43pts; 2nd Colin McGarvey 42pts;  3rd Plunkett McNelis 42pts; Gross Peter Henry 36pts; Seniors John Donnelly 39pts; Front  9 Willie Moffitt 21pts; Back 9 Paul Ward 21pts.

It was the first time this year there was no juvenile representation but it was a school day. Peter and Cyril have been good supporters of the club and we thank them for their continuing sponsorship.

The ladies also played on a separate day. Jo McNelis won with 41 Teresa O’Leary second on 39 and Mary McAleer was third with 37 points.
On Saturday we have the McAtee Juvenile Cupand Juvenile Scratch shield competitions.

The finals of both the Montague Rosebowl and Clabby Cup club matchplay competitios will also be played. The Barr Gathering is on in the evening with music by Oakridge – all are welcome.

Then, on 12 October the winter league starts. There is a notice in the locker room on which you can put your name down.

At 2.00pm on the same day the finals day of the Mixed Foursomes will be played over 18 holes with a shotgun start at 2.00pm.

Eleanor enjoyed her big day.
Eleanor Hetherington held her Lady President’s day last Saturday and it was a great success from start to finish.

The weather was ver kind to her and her attention to detail made it a great occasion for the lady members and visitors alike.

The scoring was good and Teresa O’Leary just pipped Fanchea Donnely by a single point to claim the coveted first prize. The full results are: – 1.

After a meal provide by chef Tony the ladies had their presentation, followed by music by After Dark.

Overall Eleanor was delighted her day had gone so well and thanked all those who had helped in any way to make it such a success.
