LARGE vehicle driving offers an appealing career choice and Edenmore Training Services is here to help people realise such a dream. Based in the Clogher Valley, Edenmore Training Services is run by local man Gabriel McKenna who has 20 years of driving experience in various on-road categories.

Edenmore Training Services, named after Edenmore Forest beside Gabriel’s home, offers training in LGV plus PCV, national and international haulage, forklift work, car and trailer and driver assessments.

Gabriel McKenna, an approved DSA driving instructor, is the ideal person to have behind the wheel of Edenmore Training Services given his experience in the business.

Gabriel takes up the story on how his career all began. “There is a good family background in driving and I always had an interest in it. I started driving in the large vehicle sector locally 20 years ago, then progressed onto long-haul driving across Ireland, the UK and Europe.ets-ad

“Experiencing many different types of driving along the way sparked the idea some four years ago about the training side of things. Twenty years of driving has given me experience and advice that I can pass onto people. “I felt that there was a good demand and need for this type of training. I did all the required courses and the goal was achieved to purchase our own two training lorries’’.

Edenmore prides itself on providing a personal, professional and practical service, as Gabriel explains. “We are centrally based here in the Clogher Valley and I can arrange to meet people en route for transport onto a choice of three training locations. When people contact us, we take them through the whole process from start to finish.

Training packs are available from us and we explain what’s involved from theory through to practice and then test. “Courses are run over four days with wide-ranging in-cab training and the test follows on day five. “Edenmore also offers a service whereby we can go on-site to a company and deliver refresher courses for drivers.

“Like any career, it’s important to up-date skills and adapt for the demands of the modern day environment. “Tractor drivers doing contract work also require qualifications for such work.

We can help with that along with many aspects of driving across the spectrum. “I would encourage people to get in touch with us and chat about their needs. Edenmore is there for guidance and support as well as the training and practical sides of the driving business’’, stated Gabriel.
