TODAY , Thursday May 22, Fermanagh people have been heading to the polls to cast their vote in the local council elections.

In this election voters are being asked to choose who they wish to represent them both on the new Fermanagh and Omagh council (which will sit next May) and in Europe.

A total of 37 candidates representing eight political parties are standing for the public vote with 22 seats up for grabs on the new council for Fermanagh.

Omagh will elect a total of 18 councillors to give a total of 40 seats on the new ‘super’ council.

Fermanagh is divided into four electoral areas; Enniskillen, Erne East, Erne North and Erne West.
