Rower Gerry Murphy is an Irish Indoor Rowing champion.

Enniskillen man Murphy won the 50-59 light weight category at the University of Limerick Sports Arena on Saturday.
In with over 800 competitors Murphy raced a distance of 200o metres in a winning time of 7.03 seconds.

The seasoned rower had planned to row to win, rather than a fast time.

He had a five second lead at the 1000 metre mark and rowed steadily to maintain his five second lead at the end.

Second was Iain Pickering of Boston Rowing Club, (England) and third third  Brian McNicholl of Tribesmen Rowing Club (Galway).
