Top level coaching at Drumralla Stables

Over 50 equestrian enthusiasts turned up to Drumralla Stables in Newtownbutler to see a lesson from the Irish Team Olympic Coach to local riders.  Ian Fearon who is currently coaching the Irish Equestrian Event Team for the next Olympic games, gave three young riders a lesson of a life time.

Alexandra Bowthwell from Fivemiletown along with Casey and Ryan Phair from Newtownbutler had the opportunity to receive top tips from the Irish Coach.  For much of the lesson Ian Fearon focused on controlling the horse in all situations, getting it to do what the rider wanted not what it wanted to do.

Ian, himself an ex Irish International Show Jumper is now one of the few top High Performance Coaches in the country ensured that those watching from the sides understood his reasons behind his direction.

Overjoyed with the opportunity to receive a lesson from the top coach, Alexandra Bothwell said “He concentrated on the very basics, saying that if you got that right the rest would be much easier”.  The venture along with Drumlin Harriers, Cootehill, Co. Cavan was part of the Peace III funding initiative, giving young riders the opportunity to get some top coaching
