Fermanagh teams kicked off their Foyle  Cup campaign on Monday with mixed results.

The opening parade through the centre of Derry City was held yesterday, Tuesday and the youth football tournament continues throughout the week.

The Brendan Keogh Youth League select were beaten 3-1 by Inishowen Youth League on Monday. For coach Chris McDowell and his side it was a tough baptism into the Foyle Cup.

“The boys played very well early on, but were beaten by a much more physical side,” he said.

The league select took the lead when Niall Owens cross was knocked on by Jamie Robinson for Jake Brown to score.
But soon after that they were pegged back in controversial circumstances when the referee awarded a spot kick after the ball had gone out for a corner.

Before the break Owens had a great chance to score again when he was through one on one with the goalkeeper.
Yesterday they were to play in Dungiven.

In the under-15 section Enniskillen Rangers drew 2-2 with Eglinton Eagles in their opening game.

The Enniskillen side had an early scare when Eglinton hit the crossbar, but took the lead through Ferghal McGovern who scored from close range.

They took the lead with a great move from midfield setting up Colm Jones to go through. He was taken down inside the penalty box and netted from the spot kick.

The under-11s and under-16 were due to kick off their tournament yesterday, Tuesday.

On Monday Enniskillen Town Youth suffered a heavy defeat in their opening game, going down 4-0 to Donegal Schools.

Enniskillen Athletic, making their debut in the competition against a Meath representative side went down narrowly 2-1.
Coach Ciaran Cadden felt it was a tough test against a physical, but talented Meath select side.

Two goals for Meath meant Athletic had a mountain to climb, but a well taken goal by Mark Landers gave hope to Athletic to grab something late on.
