Ballinamallard United held a presentation night at the club on Saturday evening to acknowledge the achievements of its two Under-18 sides, one playing in the IFA Youth League and one in the Mid Ulster Juvenile League.
Once again the event culminated with the presentation of the highly respected Greg Turley Memorial Cup. The cup donated by Greg’s family, in his memory, is presented each year to a deserving young player who has played at all ages in the club’s youth section and who has demonstrated outstanding loyalty and commitment.
In criteria laid down by the Youth Committee the recipient must also possess a positive and determined character with a willingness to learn and to develop as a young player.
Mark Palmer reminded those present of the influence Greg had had on the club at all levels, before his untimely death, and reflected that almost 14 years later his memory is still held dear within the club.
The announcement by Mark that this year’s winner was Damhan Sanderson was met with warm and generous applause confirming a popular choice.
