A FERMANAGH artist has discovered a passion for drawing after spending just a few months developing her skills with a pencil.
Sinead Tummon, from Enniskillen, said she had always been creative but never considered herself particularly artistic.
“I’ve always been creative as such. I’ve had a million hobbies over the years! But I never would have described myself as artistic,” she said.
After attending several TogthrCo classes with PJ in last November, Sinead discovered how much creating art helped quieten her “unusually busy brain”.
“PJ was really encouraging and helped me move past the idea that I simply couldn’t create art,” she said.
In June, she picked up a set of pencils and began teaching herself to draw, describing the process as ‘a bit of persistence and a lot of trial and error, one drawing at a time.’

Sinead said she particularly enjoys drawing birds and buildings, with both offering different creative challenges.
“I love drawing something with meaning. Familiar places, animals, people, things that have some kind of connection or story behind them,” she explained.
One of her recent projects was inspired by a photograph of Enniskillen in 1960, shared by Benny Cassidy on the Old Enniskillen page.
The drawing captured the town’s historic streets, cars and traffic.
“It was still so recognisably Enniskillen,” Sinead said. The finished piece was given to a friend’s father for his 70th birthday, prompting stories about the town’s past.
The drawing took around four evenings, or 10 to 12 hours, to complete.

Despite receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, Sinead admits she still experiences ‘a bit of imposter syndrome’.
Looking ahead, she hopes to create more Enniskillen scenes, including a view from her parents’ house and the school where she works.
“I would just love to keep developing, see where it goes, and use it to create things that have some meaning for other people,” she said.
