LISNASKEA singer Samantha Breslin has taken another major step in her impressive career by releasing her own version of a Willie Nelson classic which was recorded over 50 years ago.
The mother-of-one, who has been a constant on the local music scene for a number of years, revealed she has recorded her own version of well-known song ‘Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain’.
Although the song dates back to 1946 when it was penned by American Elton Britt, the track rose to prominence when it was recorded by the popular and much-respected Willie Nelson in 1975.
The release of the new single coincides with Breslin’s return to gigging. She recently performed to a packed crowd at the Miltown Manor in Tempo, to the delight of her ever-growing fan base.
A talented fiddler player and traditional Irish musician, Breslin has performed throughout Ireland, including being a headline act at the popular ‘Cowboys and Heroes’ music festival in Leitrim.
The Fermanagh singer has also produced a number of songs in the past, including ‘It’s Goodbye and so Long to you’ and ‘Get Along Home Cindy’, which saw her rise to fame on the music scene.
Speaking to the ‘Herald after her single ‘Get Along Home Cindy’ soared through the Country music chart, the mother-of-one said she was “absolutely delighted” with the success of the song. “I heard the song ‘Get Along Home Cindy’ in the movie ‘Rio Bravo’ and fell in love with it. I thought it was very catchy and it wasn’t very well known which was even a bigger bonus,” Breslin said.
“I was absolutely delighted with the outcome. I was completely overwhelmed with the support.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to all who purchased and downloaded my single, it has meant the absolute world to me,” added the award-winning Fermanagh singer.
During her short hiatus from gigging, Breslin has been entertaining her fans with some online music releases, which included her own version on renowned song ‘Raglan Road’.
