COUNTRY star Lisa McHugh has released an “incredibly personal” original song which delves into her life and recounts the challenges she faced in rising to the top on the local music scene.
The 37-year-old Glaswegian, who has set up home in Enniskillen with her husband Nathan and her children Milo and Haillie, confirmed the release of her much-anticipated single ‘Tennessee’.
Having previously teased that she was working on new music, the Fermanagh Country music star has recalled some of the major moments which inspired her career, in her latest release.
“This song is incredibly personal. The story behind it comes from when I left home to go to Tennessee – but I left my heart, my little boy Milo, back here,” McHugh explained about the song.
“It’s about the ache of missing someone deeply when you’re chasing your dreams far from them.”
After an almost two-year hiatus following the birth of her daughter Haillie, the Scottish singer has been off stage, where she revealed that she had been working on producing some new music.
McHugh has since marked her return to performing in style, collaborating with local Country music performers Nathan Carter and Derek Ryan at some venues during their successful Irish tours.
The mother-of-two will kick-off her summer dates at The Market Place in Armagh on June 12.
McHuh will also lead gigs at the Balor Arts Centre in Donegal on Friday, June 13, and at the Alley Theatre in Strabane on Saturday, June 14. She’s also going to be performing at major festivals.
The award-winning singer has also teased that some new music will be on the way soon.
“I’m back in the studio again working on some new music and writing away whenever I get the chance. Hopefully it won’t be long until there’s some new music on the way,” explained McHugh.
“I need to have time to switch off and connect into that creative side of my brain.
“I’m lucky that I’ve got great friends and co-writers that I can lean on and we tend to book the time in the diary and get as much done as we possibly can,” added the local Country star.
