DONAGH singer Patrick Treacy, who claimed the TG4 talent show title ‘Glór Tíre’, has taken another step in his career by releasing a new song, as his career goes from strength to strength.
The Fermanagh talent has put his own unique twist on ‘The Hard Times Lovin’ Can Bring’, a song which was written by Country star Mick Flavin in November 2011, and has been warmly received.
It’s another milestone in Treacy’s impressive career. He rose to fame following the release of his track ‘Charlie’s Bar’, which was written by Fermanagh Country music star, Anthony McBrien.
The 22-year-old Fermanagh singer built on his fame following the release, by launching a number of other songs including his own take on ‘The Long Way Home’ and ‘The Legend Joe Mahon’.
Treacy, who won the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann last year after a 14-year bid for the title, shared his elation after he became the first ever Fermanagh winner of the long-running TG4 talent show.
“I have no words to describe my feelings,” the Fermanagh man said.
“It’s absolutely outrageous. It’s a dream come true. I never thought this would happen, but we got here eventually and thank God the title is coming to Fermanagh for the first time.
“The support at home and people recognise me is the biggest thing. Like, people I didn’t even think would watch this show were coming up to me and saying, ‘I seen you on TV’.
“People were asking me for stuff before this and I just said, ‘Please let me get over Tuesday first and I’ll see what happens after that’. You’ve certainly not heard the last of Paddy Treacy.”
Treacy is preparing to entertain his local fans when he links with up with other stars at the ‘Fermanagh’s Got Country’ event which takes place at the Ardhowen Theatre on July 24.
