Fermanagh rallies to support Loris

THE motorsport community across the country joined forces to raise money to support Enniskillen biker Loris Britton who suffered serious injuries following a recent accident at Newtownards.
The 25-year-old, who is the son of the late Richard and Maria Britton, was involved in a crash at the Kirkistown Racing Circuit on Easter Monday, during the Ulster Superbike Championship.
Mr Britton was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment for several fractures to his lower back, internal bleeding and an eye injury. He’s now on the road to recovery.
A range of fundraising events have been taking place across the motorsport industry to raise money for the Enniskillen man who is expected to be out of racing for a large part of the season.
“Loris would like to thank everyone who helped him, especially to all the medics, marshals, safety welfare officers and the team for looking after him and getting everything ready,” his team said.
“Loris will be out for a while as he focuses on his recovery. Not the ending we’d have hoped for round three after such a great start to the season. Thanks to anyone who messaged or called.”
Mr Britton’s accident occurred just a few rounds into the Ulster Superbike Championship.
He spent a long spell in Spain earlier this year gearing up for the campaign, after he had signed up to compete in the ‘Superbike Class’ in the hugely competitive motorsport event.
