Fermanagh man to stand trial on death driving charge

A MAN is to stand trial on a charge of causing death by careless driving during a serious road traffic collision which occurred over three years ago

James Walmsley (41) from Ardvarney Road, Kesh is accused of causing the death of John Woods on 4 March 2022.

The 74-year-old victim was a pedestrian in the Water Street area of Lisnaskea when he was struck by a lorry.

Members of his family were present in the public gallery of Dungannon Crown Court where Walmsley pleaded not guilty.

No further details surrounding the circumstances of the case were disclosed during the short hearing.

Judge Brian Sherrard ruled a trial will take place in October with an exact date yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, Walmsley was remanded on continuing bail.
