EXCITEMENT is building locally after The Tumbling Paddies confirmed that they’re going to be performing locally in Pettigo at what’s expected to be a major sold-out gig at the Termon Complex.
The six-man Fermanagh band, who continue to make major strides in their impressive career, will stop-off for a two-hour gig at the Pettigo venue on June 29, to the delight of their local fan base.
Fresh off the back of a tour of Australia, The Tumbling Paddies, who celebrated 10 years on the road, are in the midst of an Irish tour which is seeing huge crowds turn out across the country.
The band has turned their attention to headlining at some leading music festivals in recent weeks, in Monaghan, Galway and Tipperary, where hundreds of music fans have been in attendance.
Lead singer with The Tumbling Paddies, Gareth Maguire, recently said that the group are experiencing youngsters who are “mad for a dance” and they’re committed to entertaining them.
“There’s a great young crowd that come to our shows,” explained the Derrylin man.
“When you see the young people out, going mad for a dance, they don’t want to be listening to sad, slow, songs, so we keep it lit and drive them on. That’s the aim of a gig, keep things lively.”
The Tumbling Paddies have an action-packed calendar in store with some more festival appearances planned, including at the ‘Cowboys and Heroes’ festival in Leitrim on May 31.
Anticipation is also building that the Fermanagh band is working on producing new music, after lead singer Gareth Maguire was snapped alongside local Country music star Derek Ryan.
Ryan has written a number of songs for The Tumbling Paddies including their hit track ‘The Way I Am’, which earned national recognition for the Fermanagh band, helping to put them on the map.
The band has also recently confirmed that they’ll be returning to the States for a tour in August.
