DONEGAL band ‘Onóir’ has sold out the Ardhowen Theatre for the second time in just over a month as the popular and much-loved folk band continue to take the local music scene by storm.
The folk group has earned national recognition for their many covers and versions of some Irish classic songs and they’ve received a strong following and fan base from across the island.
A large crowd turned out to the Enniskillen venue on Friday, April 12, for the special ‘Onóir’ performance and the Donegal band has now confirmed they’ll return to the venue on Saturday.
“’Onóir’ is ready to blow your mind, as they put their unique stamp on the timeless ballads and folk songs that we all love,” a spokesperson for the Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen said.
“But be prepared for a few pleasant surprises as they delve into americana, heart rending soul and a little bit of country. There’s going to be some fun and laughter along the way.”
‘Onóir’ burst onto the scene in 2020 when their version of ‘The Auld Triangle’ went viral on social media, with the band later being offered headline performances at venues across Ireland.
The Ardhowen Theatre has praised the band for their take on “up tempo modern Irish classics”.
“’Onóir’ are selling out venues in record time as their impassioned audiences are taken on a musical odyssey,” added a spokesperson for the Enniskillen theatre.
“From their new take on traditional Irish songs all the way through to, up tempo modern Irish classics. From tears to laughter, enjoy the onstage chemistry, excitement, and banter in a show that you will remember for a long, long time.”
Recently, during their tour of Ireland, ‘Onóir’ have been joined at a number of venues by Ballyshannon singer and musician Farrah Bogle.
