After six years in charge, Fermanagh hurling manager Joe Baldwin has parted ways with the Erne County, but not in the way he would’ve hoped.
Following an interview with the ‘Herald’ three weeks ago, in the aftermath of a heavy 17-point defeat to Sligo at Brewster Park, an angry Baldwin called out the commitment of some of his players, saying;
“We had boys who only completed one pitch session this week. If them boys think that one pitch session is good enough to represent a county team, it’s not, and we got found out today.”
The interview sparked widespread reaction and the following week, for their penultimate Nickey Rackard tie with Roscommon, Baldwin’s absence on the sideline was notable.
The 52-year-old admitted that the last three weeks have been far from what he wanted.
“The last three weeks has soured it but it has been the most enjoyable six years,” said the Waterford native.
