ENNISKILLEN actor Adrian Dunbar recently met up with his former ‘Line of Duty’ colleagues as speculation mounts that a new series could be on the way to the delight of the programme’s fans.
The 66-year-old, who played Superintendent Ted Hastings, in the show was snapped enjoying the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, alongside his colleagues, Vicky McClure and Martin Compston.
The Enniskillen actor has recently teased fans of the BBC series that it could be set to return.
“All the signals and everything are positive, but until the script hits the desk, you can’t be 100 per-cent sure,” Dunbar, who played Superintendent Ted Hastings, recently explained.
“We’re all hoping someone somewhere will make an announcement and say, ‘Yes, it’s happening.’ The day they announce it, it’s going to burn up the internet.
“To create an iconic character on British television within an iconic TV show was a huge ambition of mine. And to have done it is humbling and satisfying,” added the Enniskillen man.
It has been a busy few weeks for Dunbar who has been confirmed as a returning character in the ITV police drama ‘Ridley’, which will air on our TV screens over the next few weeks.
“The series will consist of four two-hour-long films, with Ridley (Adrian Dunbar), back on duty to solve more crimes alongside DI Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh),” ‘Good House Keeping’ read.
“The pair have a new slate of mysteries on their hands, including a jewellery heist that turns into a murder case and a man who’s shot dead during an illegal rave on a building site.”
Dunbar has recently spoken out in support of renowned poet and literary legend, Samuel Beckett.
“I follow him [Samuel Beckett] blindly. He’s like a secular saint to me. Engaging with [Samuel] Beckett makes you think about the fundamentals of life,” the actor said.
“Those fundamentals are sometimes hard to engage with, but at the end, when he drives everything to a conclusion, he also makes you feel something that is liberating.”
