Fermanagh drama group celebrates 25 years with panto

A LOCAL drama group is bringing a hugely popular pantomime to life on stage this week at the Termon Centre as they prepare to celebrate 25 years in existence with a special series of shows.

The Borderline Players, who were established in September 2000, have been leading productions for over two decades and they’re currently bringing the ‘Bluebeard’ pantomime to life on stage.

A star-studded lineup has been confirmed for the ‘Bluebeard’ pantomime with the experienced actor Paddy Duggan back on stage for the first time since his last appearance in 2012.

He’s playing the part of ‘Lurkin’ in the Termon Centre extravaganza, while the well-known Aiden Gilroy will also return to the stage when he plays the title character ‘Baron Bluebeard’ in the show.

Belleek resident Liz Smith and her three children are all cast in the pantomime, with regulars Sobhan McNamee O’Donnell and Alison Lappin also returning for the much-anticipated panto.

Talented actresses Frances McGloin and Aideen Casey have all been confirmed for the show, as well as Killian McGloin and Joseph Walsh who are well-known faces on the local stage scene.

The experienced Tracey Brown Kernaghan, who is a stalwart of the Lakeland Players drama group, has also linked up with Borderline Players for the ‘Bluebeard’ pantomime this week.

Director of Borderline Players, Siobhan O’Brien, is pleased with the recent production.

“’Bluebeard’ was staged all the way back in 2012 and it was the final production to be showcased in the old Pettigo Community Centre which had been home to the Borderline Players,” she said.

“When it came to choosing a suitable pantomime for the anniversary year, this one seemed like the obvious choice with its mix of humour, drama, dance, music and of course, a fabulous cast.

“This year, the cast include a host of very recognisable faces and some new additions.”

Plans are also in place for a ‘Borderline 25 Ball’ with tickets available during this week’s panto.

‘Bluebeard’ is taking place at the Termon Centre in Pettigo on Friday (April 25) and Saturday (April 26), with a 7pm start time.

Tickets can be purchased on the Borderline Players Facebook page, at Feelin Fruity in Belleek or by emailing borderlineplayers@hotmail.com.
