Fermanagh band celebrates a decade on the road

THE Tumbling Paddies are going to “keep it lit” at their action-packed gigs and shows in Ireland and across Europe as they celebrate what has been a hugely successful 10 years on the road.

The six-man Fermanagh band, who burst onto the music scene in 2015, has established themselves as one of the country’s top music acts, regularly selling out some major venues.

As part of their 10 year celebrations, The Tumbling Paddies sold-out the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town. Lead singer, Gareth Maguire, feels that the Fermanagh band has a bright future ahead.

“There’s a great young crowd that come to our shows,” lead singer, Gareth, told the ‘Herald.

“When you see the young people out, going for a mad dance, they don’t want to be listening to sad, slow, songs, so we keep it lit and drive them on. That’s the aim of a gig, keep things lively.”

Fresh off the back of a stint in Australia, The Tumbling Paddies are in major demand. They’ve recently confirmed their dates for May, which will see them headline some of the biggest venues.

The Tumbling Paddies will kick off their May calendar on Saturday when they are one of a number of acts who are scheduled to perform at the much-anticipated Inniskeen Festival in Monaghan.

Heading into the summer period, the Fermanagh band will be one of the headline performers at festivals this month, including the hugely popular ‘Cowboys and Heroes’ festival in Leitrim.

The Tumbling Paddies will also headline at the Tipperary Town Festival on Saturday, May 10, and at the Lúr Music Festival in Newry, which will take place on Friday, May 23.

The six-man Fermanagh band is keen to build on their newfound fame and entertain their fan base right across Europe, with some dates also confirmed for the States.

“We’re in America in August,” band member, Martin Treacy, explained.

“The next stop is Canada and the US. We’re doing five dates, and then back to the UK one weekend in every four. It’s an Irish and UK tour all the time, and Spain as well, and Germany.”
