Roy Carroll has spent a lifetime between the posts, but his latest move has brought him to uncharted territory.
The former Northern Ireland and Manchester United goalkeeper has taken on a new challenge as goalkeeper coordinator with Neom SC, a club making a rapid rise in Saudi Arabia.
Carroll spoke to the ‘Herald during a visit home, a five-and-a-half-hour flight from his base in Tabuk in the north of the country.
He shared his excitement about joining Neom SC, who, three years into its rebrand, are on the brink of promotion to the star-studded Saudi Pro League.
“It’s practically a brand-new club. Everything’s being worked out from the first team down,” Carroll explained.
