Anger following rise in Fermanagh vandalism

THE increase in serious vandalism and anti-social behaviour in Fermanagh has been described as “disappointing” after a number of public places were attacked across the county.
It was reported that a picnic table at the Enniskillen Castle was damaged by vandalism, while there was also significant damage caused to public toilets at Muckross in Kesh and in Lisbellaw.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said vandalism has a “negative effect” on the local area.
“Fermanagh and Omagh District is committed to providing facilities that enhance residents and visitors enjoyment of our district,” a statement from the Council read.
“It is therefore disappointing to report that in recent days, some of those facilities have borne the brunt of anti-social behaviour and vandalism, including damage to a picnic table at Enniskillen Castle and to public toilets at Muckross (Kesh) and Lisbellaw.
“These incidents of vandalism deny residents and visitors access to services and facilities and divert Council resources which could have been used to benefit the district.
“Vandalism also has a negative effect on communities and visitor experiences of our district.”
“This behaviour is a disgrace. It cost money which could do more help elsewhere,” a post read.
