WITH just 15 days to go until the UK General Election, six candidates are set to go head-to-head to become the next Member for Parliament for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
Former head of Royal College of Nursing, Pat Cullen, has been confirmed as Sinn Féin’s candidate as the party bids to hold the seat won by outgoing MP, Michelle Gildernew.
Ulster Unionist Party’s Diana Armstrong, a councillor for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, is the only Unionist candidate set to stand for the election on Thursday, July 4.
After making history at the recent council election, Enniskillen man Eddie Roofe is set to represent the Alliance Party as they aim to make significant gains in the constituency.
Paul Blake from Enniskillen, who served as a Fermanagh and Omagh District Councillor, is also going back into the election fight, when he represents the Social Democratic and Labour Party.
Dungannon man Gerry Cullen has also been confirmed as the Cross-Community Labour Alternative’s candidate in Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
Completing the field is Aontu’s Carl Duffy. He’s the first representative from the all-island political party to stand as an MP in the Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency.
