A man has died following a suspected drowning incident in Bundoran.

It’s understood that the victim had been fishing off rocks close to the Roughey Cliffs this morning (20th June) when he fell into the sea.

His body was later recovered on Tullan Strand and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has been taken to Sligo University Hospital.

A multi-agency operation including the Gardai, ambulance and rescue 118 was subsequently launched.

Gardai say that a post-mortem will be conducted at a later date, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.
