Three arrested in connection to Lunney attack

TWO men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the brutal abduction and torture of Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney.
The three suspects are currently being questioned at Cavan, Monaghan and Kells Garda Station. According to RTE, one man is in his 20s, one is in his 40s, and the woman is in her 50s. Searches were also carried out in Cavan, Dublin and Longford.
It is understood the two men were arrested under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, which covers serious offences and will give gardai special powers of detention for questioning the suspects, while the woman was arrested for withholding information.
Kinawley man Mr Lunney was kidnapped on his way home from work in Derrylin on September 17th and subjected to a horrific ordeal in which he suffered multiple injuries, before being dumped across the border in Cavan hours later.
A special cross-border Garda/PSNI investigation team has been set up to investigate the abduction and the protracted campaign of intimidation and violence again Mr Lunney and his fellow QIH directors.
Last week one of the chief suspects in the joint investigation, Cyril ‘Dublin Jimmy’ McGuinness, during a raid on a house in England where he was staying.
Both the police and gardai are continuing to appeal for information.
