A NURSE who was caught speeding has been disqualified from driving for two weeks.
Andrei-Gabriel Popescu ( 27) of Glebe Park, Moneynoe or Chanterhill Enniskillen appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday charged with driving with excess speed.
On Friday July 26th 2019, Popescu was caught speeding on the A4 Belfast Road. Popescu was recorded as travelling at 87 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone.
The court heard that the defendant has nine penalty points on his licence and a fixed penalty could not be issued.
Popescu appeared in court without legal representation, and District Judge Michael Ranaghan advised him to seek legal advice due to the nature of the charge.
Popescu continued to represent himself and told the judge that he was a nurse, and had to drive to his work everyday and added that if he loses his licence he would not be able to work.
Popescu told the court that he knows he was stupid and he regretted speeding.
Judge Ranaghan said he would disqualify Popescu for a short period of time and disqualified Popescu for two weeks and fined him £150.
