Nisha set to conquer her fear of heights

A FERMANAGH teenager who is terrified of heights is planning on jumping out of a plane to help others struggling with mental health issues.
St Kevin’s student Nisha Maguire is preparing for a 13,000ft sky dive for the end of August, all to raise funds for the Aisling Centre in Enniskillen. It is a cause close to the 18-year-old’s heart.
“I’ve always struggled with mental health issues, and the Aisling Centre is a charity that helps people with mental health in our community. They are dependent on grants, so I thought it would be nice to do something that would help others in the community.”
While Nisha herself received help elsewhere she has family members who have benefited from some of the many services provided by the Aisling Centre.
She added: “I have overcome a lot of the struggles I had and I thought it was time now to give something back to the community. I know the Aisling Centre has helped so many people.”
As for the skydive itself, like some it is not a long-held ‘bucket list’ item Nisha always wanted to do.
“I want to push myself out of my boundaries. I’ve always been very scared of things like that, and to be honest, heights is one of my biggest fears,” she said.
The Enniskillen teenager has set up a fundraising page on www.gofundme.com that can be found by searching for “I’m Raising Money for the Aisling Centre!”.
She is also planning a raffle, hopefully with the support of some local businesses.
